To become an architect, students must earn an accredited, professional degree in Architecture.ÌýThe Bachelor of Architecture is a one-year professional degree program only for students who have earned a four-year undergraduate degree in Architecture (from NCÌýState or another program within a NAAB accredited institution). Admission requirements include prerequisite courses which must be included in the applicant’s undergraduate program. A transcript review will identify any prerequisite deficiencies. If accepted to the program, the applicant will be advised regarding how to comply with the prerequisite requirements.
The B.Arch is an advanced degree program that emphasizes comprehensive and integrative design processes. The program prepares students for professional practice through two design studios and a series of required and elective courses in history, theory, architectural technologies, urbanism, energy studies and environmental systems. In this program, students develop a directed thesis project with faculty members, and this project allows students to focus on topics that are critical to current issues in professional architectural practice.
