- A total of 15 semester hours is required. At least nine credit hours must be taken at NC State. The remaining credit hours may be taken through affiliate programs (e.g. NCSU Jordan: Qasid Arabic Institute summer study abroad program, the ) or approved non-NCSU study abroad programs.

- Satisfactory completion of the certificate program requires:
- completion of the coursework noted above;
- a grade of C-or better in all courses used to satisfy the certificate requirements;
- an overall GPA of 2.0 or better for all courses used to satisfy the certificate requirements.
