A MS student with a Graduate Research Assistantship is required to be a teaching assistant in one assigned Crop Science course. For eligible TA assignments as indicated by the DGP, enroll in 1 credit hour of °ä³§Ìý685 Master's Supervised TeachingÌýduring the teaching semester.

Students can also register forÌý°ä³§Ìý695 Master's Thesis ResearchÌýbut should only register for this course when writing your thesis.Ìý

Students can earn additional credits in °ä³§Ìý693 Master's Supervised Research, if recommended by your Advisory Committee. Those additional credits will count toward the Additional Courses requirement.Ìý

Additional Information

  • The MS Advisory Committee must include 3 graduate faculty members at NC State. The Chair or co-Chair must be a full graduate faculty member in Crop Science.ÌýAn employee of the USDA may be a committee member or co-Chair, but not a sole Chair.Ìý
  • All courses counted toward the degree must be NC State or inter-institutional courses. At least 18 hours must be letter-graded with grades of C- or better (grades below B must be rare). Other S/U courses must be graded ‘S, satisfactory’.Ìý
  • Upon Advisory Committee and DGP approval, up to 6 credit hours from relevant NC State 400-level courses that were graded B or better may be used. Any 400-level courses includedÌýmust: not have CS prefixes; be graded B or better; and not have been used to fulfill undergraduate requirements.
  • You may not count °ä³§Ìý688/°ä³§Ìý689, °ä³§Ìý690, °ä³§Ìý696, °ä³§Ìý699 towards the 30 hours required for the MS degree.
  • A maximum of 6 years is allowed to earn the MS degree.Ìý
  • An NC State cumulative GPA of 3.000 or better is required for graduation.
