¸£Àû±ÆÕ¾ Catalog 2025-2026

Arabic (Certificate)

A five-course program of study in Arabic as a second language to allow undergraduate students to develop competence in and knowledge of the Arabic language, increased understanding and appreciation of Arabic and Middle Eastern (SWANA) cultures and greater knowledge of the countries where Arabic is spoken. This program is open to undergraduates in any major and of any class standing.

  • A total of 15 semester hours is required. At least nine credit hours must be taken at NC State. The remaining credit hours may be taken through affiliate programs (e.g. NCSU Jordan: Qasid Arabic Institute summer study abroad program, the ) or approved non-NCSU study abroad programs.

  • Students who place into WLAR 202 should consider pursuing the Ìýinstead of the certificate.
  • There are no other required examinations, presentations, or external learning experiences.
  • Satisfactory completion of the certificate program requires:
    • completion of the coursework noted above;
    • a grade of C-or better in all courses used to satisfy the certificate requirements;
    • an overall GPA of 2.0 or better for all courses used to satisfy the certificate requirements.
