The Department of Biological Sciences provides educational opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students and conducts world class research in a variety of areas in modern biology. Undergraduate Programs in the Department of Biological Sciences have the primary mission of providing our diverse population of students with the opportunity and support to successfully complete their major and prepare for their post-baccalaureate life as independent thinkers, lifelong learners, and contributing members of society.
Evolutionary Biology (Minor)

The minor in Evolutionary Biology provides undergraduate students with an understanding of agents of evolutionary change, how evolutionary processes are monitored across various time scales, and how these processes are quantified in extant and extinct populations. Offered by the Department of Biological Sciences, the Evolutionary Biology Minor is available to all baccalaureate degree students at North Carolina State ¸£Àû±ÆÕ¾ except for those in the B.S. in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology. This minor is especially appropriate for (but not limited to) students majoring in the life sciences, agricultural sciences, physical sciences, natural resources, or science education. At least 9 credit hours of the minor must be completed at NC State.
