BIT 459 Portable Genome Sequencing
The Portable Genome Sequencing course is a half-semester hands-on introduction to portable genome sequencing technologies. We will extend many concepts you learned in your molecular biology course to new situations, including the challenges and opportunities of using Oxford Nanopore Technologies for long-read sequencing in the field. We will also learn from case studies and videos. Effectively sequencing to obtain useful information requires consideration of sample preservation, nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, and data analyses. Together, we will learn and share resources using a series of lab experiments as examples.
