DAN 200 Applied Somatics

¶Ù´¡±·Ìý200ÌýÌýApplied SomaticsÌýÌý(3 credit hours)ÌýÌý

This class is designed to give students the opportunity to learn and apply different somatic movement techniques for improved performance and wellbeing. Students will learn the basics of anatomy and physiology, and then be introduced to a variety of somatic practices in order to understand and apply the principles of these techniques to their movement practices. Some examples of potential techniques are: Yoga, Pilates, Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais Method, Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies. The course engages students from all movement practices (performing arts, sports, martial arts, etc).
