ENG 350 Professional Internships
Directed work for CHASS majors including work-site mentoring and evaluation. Department supervision includes professional development coursework. Students will design application materials and revise writing samples or other portfolio samples. Course content will examine career options and include discussion, mentoring, and reading related to workplace professionalization. Students must identify and secure their own internship opportunity and provide their own transportation to the internship site. Modest liability insurance fee required. Course requires 120 contact hours with the sponsoring organization and a weekly class meeting during the spring semester. Students must must complete the application process outlined on the English Internship program website. Students may complete an internship prior to enrolling in English 350. This requires an application and contract to have your internship approved and supervised.
Restriction: minimum 3.0 major GPA and junior or senior status and CHASS major or minor

English (BA): Rhetoric and Professional Writing Concentration
The undergraduate major in English is built around a 12-hour c ore consisting of two literature classes and two courses from  the following categories: Film, Linguistics, Creative Writing,  and Rhetoric. In addition to the 12-hour core, students take an additional 27 hours of course work in the major.
