The relationships among rhetoric, scientific knowledge and technological development and of changes in how these relationships understood historically. Practice in critical analysis of scientific and technical discourse. Consideration of scientific and technical language and of public controversy concerning science and technology.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences offers programs of study that lead to baccalaureate and advanced degrees in the disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. The college also offers courses in these disciplines that are required in all undergraduate programs. In this way the university provides its students the opportunity to prepare for a full life in the professions and occupations that require intellectual flexibility, broad knowledge, and a basic comprehension of human beings and their challenges.
