Reviews the history, types, and characteristics of literature for adolescents, and emphasizes reading and analyzing the literature by exploring the themes, literary elements, challenges, and rationale for young adult literature. It addresses the ways in which this literature can be integrated and implemented in an English curriculum. Although the course is primarily designed for future and current high school English teachers, it can also be valuable for those working with adolescents in any capacity or for enhancing one's understanding of young adult literature past and present. Readings will include texts from a diverse and representative list of American and world authors.

In this course, students will learn how to clearly and accurately communicate nutrition science to a range of audiences. Students will learn the fundamentals of nutrition communication and how to tailor content for the lay public, low-literacy groups, the media, youth, a professional/scientific audience, and culturally diverse populations. Students will complete a series of written and oral communications assignments using a range of media channels such as blogs, podcasts, and print materials. Students will also work collaboratively in groups to design a nutrition education campaign.

FW 402 Genetics for Wildlife Management

¹ó°ÂÌý402/¹ó°ÂÌý502ÌýÌýGenetics for Wildlife ManagementÌýÌý(3 credit hours)ÌýÌý

Broadly, this course details how genetic tools are used in wildlife management. Genetics can be applied in many scenarios in wildlife management from abundance estimation and connectivity to species identification and hybridization. This course will provide information on the theoretical underpinnings of how evolutionary processes contribute to observed genetic variation, and how measuring that variation has broad application across wildlife management.
