HI 443 U.S. Constitutional History to 1883
This course examines the origins and development of the U. S. Constitution from the Articles of Confederation to 1883. The course specifically looks at the federal Convention of 1787, the national bank debate and early constitutional interpretation;the constitution and its interaction with politics, economics, and society; the powers of Congress-taxation, contracts, commerce and war. The course also examines sovereignty, slavery and civil rights. It ends with an analysis of the Civil War Amendments and the transformation in American constitutionalism. Credit for both ±á±õÌý443 and ±á±õÌý543 is not allowed
