Expansion and interaction of Islam and Christianity in sub-Saharan Africa in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and their influence and impact on the economy, politics, and society. Topics include missionary activity, resistance to imperial authority, the role of the churches, and the influence of religion on leadership, education, nationalism, and post-colonialism. Credit will not be given for both ±á±õÌý478 and ±á±õÌý578.
