LPS 200 Introduction to Public Leadership

This introductory course is designed for students who are interested in exploring public sector leadership. Students will be introduced to fundamental concepts and assumptions of leadership, will evaluate methods for conducting adequate academic research on leadership, and will assess skills and approaches for good public and non-profit sector leadership, with a focus on leadership self-assessment.

The Leadership in the Public Sector (LPS) program is the only undergraduate online program offered at NC State for non-traditional transfer students. It was specifically created to provide students with a liberal arts foundation in the ethical, theoretical, and policy analytical skills necessary to be effective leaders in public and nonprofit sector organizations. LPS will give students the knowledge and skills needed for success in government, education, nonprofit organizations and the public sector, as well as credentials that will prepare you for graduate school.

Leadership in the Public Sector (Certificate)

The Leadership in the Public Sector Undergraduate Certificate is designed for those students who want to develop the knowledge and skills to be effective leaders in the public sector.  Students in this program will survey leadership theories, research, and applied practices in order to learn and apply necessary skills, methods, and techniques of effective leadership in public and non-profit organizations.  This certificate program is offered entirely online and available only for non-traditional or non-degree seeking students.

The College of Humanities and Social Sciences offers programs of study that lead to baccalaureate and advanced degrees in the disciplines of the humanities and social sciences. The college also offers courses in these disciplines that are required in all undergraduate programs. In this way the university provides its students the opportunity to prepare for a full life in the professions and occupations that require intellectual flexibility, broad knowledge, and a basic comprehension of human beings and their challenges.
