SW 405 Social Work Practice II
Second of a three-course sequence (Practice I, II, and III). Practice II examines generalist social work roles and techniques with families and groups. Building on the foundation interviewing and engagement skills presented in Practice I, it focuses on assessment, planning, and intervention with individuals, families and small groups within a framework of human rights, social justice, and diversity. 40-hour preprofessional placement is required, intern liability insurance is required. Transportation to and from agency and/or community settings is the student's responsibility.

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program at North Carolina State ¸£Àû±ÆÕ¾ (NC State) prepares students for entry-level professional generalist practice and lifelong learning. BSW students acquire the knowledge, skills, values, and ethics of the social work profession, enabling them to respond competently to (a) the service needs of a wide range of populations and (b) the social and political environments that influence well being. The program emphasizes human and social well-being, human rights, social and economic justice, environmental justice, and the empowerment of multicultural individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities that experience oppression and discrimination.
