VMC 996 Advanced Exotic Animal Medicine
Students will work with client-owned exotic animals in the CVM hospital and our in-house teaching animal colonies to further refine skills in exotic animal handling, diagnostic sample collection for multiple species, and anesthesia and radiology acquisition and interpretation of multiple exotic animal species. Cadavers will be used to teach orthopedic and soft tissue surgical procedures in birds, reptiles, and mammals. Students and faculty will spend 1-5 days in the field, travel restrictions permitting, working with psittacine birds, waterfowl, and potentially raptors at several local parrot rescue organizations and wildlife facilities. Restricted to senior DVM students only that have already completed ³Õ²Ñ°äÌý988.
