Interdisciplinary Studies (BA): Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies Concentration
The department of Integrative Humanities and Social Sciences offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a concentration in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS). WGSS is an interdisciplinary field that combines theory, research, and practical approaches to train students in critical thinking around the historical, cultural, and social contexts that influence – and are influenced by – some of humanity’s most essential identities. In their explorations, WGSS students gain key skills in active listening, reading comprehension, speaking, writing and critical thinking. Additional skills include social perceptiveness, active learning, service orientation, judgement and decision making, time management and complex problem-solving. WGSS graduates carry these competencies into a complex, contemporary world. By applying their flexibility and capacity to identify insights, WGSS graduates excel in careers in public policy, education, healthcare, media, law, nonprofit organizations, and elsewhere.
