³Ò¸éÌý600ÌýÌýGraduate Skills: An Overview of Student SuccessÌýÌý(1 credit hours)ÌýÌý

This course provides graduate students with key insights into graduate life (rights and responsibilities of graduate students, mentor/trainee responsibilities, how to plan and navigate program requirements), academic integrity and responsible conduct of research (ethical decision making, data acquisition, sharing and ownership, citations, paraphrasing and avoiding plagiarism, authorship and peer reviews, research misconduct) and professional development (NC State community standards, unconscious biases, negotiation, communication and relation building). The course culminates in students writing one reflection paper on a topic of their choice covered by the course.

Prerequisite: Graduate Standing

This course is designed to assist graduate students with the preparation of professional information that they may be required to provide as they seek opportunities following graduate school. Course topics will include preparation of personal statements, resumes or curriculum vitae, investigation of the types of careers available to Animal Science graduates, and preparation of multimedia presentations that may be used in formal interviews.
