This course is an introduction to the basic principles of biochemistry. It emphasizes biochemical structures, properties, and functions, including enzyme kinetics and major metabolic processes. It can serve as a prerequisite for µþ°ä±áÌý452 with permission of the department. This course is designed for those students who are not majoring in Biochemistry and do not require a more comprehensive introduction to biochemistry. It is not intended for graduate students. Credit is not allowed for both µþ°ä±áÌý351 and µþ°ä±áÌý451. Prerequisites required are µþ±õ°¿Ìý183 and one of the two following pathways in chemistry: °ä±áÌý101/102 (°ä±áÌý103/104), °ä±áÌý221/222 (°ä±áÌý225/226), °ä±áÌý223/224 (°ä±áÌý227/228); or °ä±áÌý101/102 (°ä±áÌý103/104), °ä±áÌý201/202 (°ä±áÌý203/204) , °ä±áÌý221/222 (°ä±áÌý225/226). °ä±áÌý201/202 and °ä±áÌý223/224 are strongly recommended, if planning to pursue further biochemistry.

Prerequisite: Bio 183 and °ä±áÌý101 and °ä±áÌý221 and °ä±áÌý223; Or Bio 183 and °ä±áÌý101 and °ä±áÌý201 and °ä±áÌý221 or by department permission.
