The purpose of this course is to familiarize the students with the professional presentation skills they need to be successful. These skills include speaking, writing, poster and website development, based on the student's proposed research/project and literature review.

Horticultural Science (BS): Landscape Design, Construction, and Management Concentration

The Bachelor of Science in Horticultural Science: Landscape Design, Gardens and Urban Environments Concentration is one of the four concentrations offered in by the Department of Horticultural Science. Students are offered a unique look at various aspects of Horticulture.ÌýÌý The Landscape Design, Gardens and Urban Environments concentration is a menu driven concentration that allows students to direct their education in either landscape design or gardens and their uses in urban spaces. Students are required to take two Biology courses, Soil Science, General Chemistry, and Whole Plant Physiology. The remaining courses for the major are selected from a series of topical menus: Plant Protection Electives, Business Electives, and Advised Electives.  Students can follow paths toward residential landscape design, landscape construction and maintenance, public gardens and urban ecosystem management or pursue a graduate degree. Horticultural Science Management (AAS): Ornamentals and Landscape Technology Concentration

The horticultural science management major is for students interested in growing, installing, and/or maintaining ornamentals, landscape plants and edibles. This program provides a foundation of science-based horticultural knowledge while emphasizing artistic and nutritional principles of plant use. Internships are required to reinforce classroom principles and vary based on the individual. The horticultural science management major offers concentrations in ornamentals and landscape technology and small-scale farming.
