English (BA): Literature Concentration
Core Curriculum
The undergraduate major in English is built around a听12-hour c辞谤别听肠辞苍蝉颈蝉迟颈苍驳听辞蹿听two literature classes and two courses from听the following听categories:听Film, Linguistics,听Creative Writing,听and Rhetoric. In addition to the听12-丑辞耻谤听core, students take听an additional 27听hours of course work in听the major.
The Literature concentration听provides a strong general education with an emphasis on the study of literature through interdisciplinary approaches. Attentive to the roles played by new media, diversity, and globalization, this concentration is also informed by the emerging field of digital humanities. It leads to a broad range of careers in education, business, government, law, etc. The major includes 27 hours of literature courses including seven courses that satisfy categorical requirements and two that meet the core requirements. Students have an additional 6 hours of English electives.
