Beginning course in Classical Greek, introducing the Greek alphabet, elementary vocabulary, and basic grammatical forms and syntax. Readings based on brief selections from Greek literature, mythology, philosophy and history.

Continuation of °Â³¢³Ò¸éÌý101. Completion of the study of basic grammar and syntax with continued focus on vocabulary acquisition. Longer readings from a variety of Greek works, including poetry, philosophy, history and the Gospels.

Introduction to Greek prose. Review of grammar fundamentals and introduction of new and more complex syntax. Emphasis on improvement of reading skill through further vocabulary acquisition and exposure to selections of unadapted Greek. Readings may be drawn from Plato, Lysias or other authors. Examination of literary and cultural significance of readings.
